How would you describe yourself to someone who hasn't heard of you?
I am a professional trained working actor; a member of The Egyptian Actor's Union. Having graduated from theatre school a few years ago, I have already completed several independent films, foreign Feature films and several plays around Montreal, Los Angeles and Cairo.
Although some people haven't heard of me; I have been around for quite some time now. (smiling) My last venture to Egypt was one that had brought me great recognition. I think all the hard work has finally payed off. I believe this is my time; the right time for people to get to know me.
How did you get into acting?
I began performing on stage at the age of five in Egypt and it was on stage, I found my true calling. My first ever television opportunity came my way during my first visit to Los Angeles in 1990. I was stopped by a casting director at a shopping mall who cast me in a small part for a TV series hosted by a man strikingly resembling Bob Goen or so I remember.
I started working professionally as an actress at the age of nineteen when I met producer/choreographer Roberto Izzi; formally known for introducing La Lambada to Canada in the early 90's. I began touring with his troop around Quebec portraying different characters on stage.
What are your preferred acting roles?
I like playing everything. However, i am attracted to twisted and complicated characters.
What projects are you working on at the moment?
Right now, my focus is on my two upcoming films "Basra" and "Heliopolis" due to open this year. I have been communicating with journalists, giving interviews to magazines and newspapers.
My first film "Basra" directed by Ahmed Rashwan; has been selected at the Valencia Film Festival this year. Therefore I will be heading to Spain in October to attend the film festival. I have been in talks with a couple of directors from India. So I am pretty ecstatic about that. It has always been a dream of mine. So India here I come!!! (giggling)
Are you a fan of Bollywood movies?
OMG! YES! I can still remember my first ever Bollywood film. It was "Mard" starring Amitabh Bachchan. I think I have seen this film like ten zillion times during my early childhood years and never got bored from watching it over and over again.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy writing a lot. I am right now in the process of writing my third book. The book will talk about what it really takes to get your foot in the door. It will also talk about my fresh new approach to marketing and promotion, the tools and techniques of networking based on my personal/secret techniques. ( giggling)
Where would you like to see yourself 10 years from now?
I see myself growing more as an individual and creative entrepreneur. Working and performing as well as having a blessed family of my own. I see myself being happy with the accomplishments I have had and see myself working towards achieving new goals such as having my own production company and designing my own clothing line.
